Side Steal Spaniard Style
(click the link above to listen)
The Spanish lecture tour kicked into high gear today when my good friend Dr. Alpen flew in from Istanbul to join the tour for the rest of the week. He says he came to visit me, but I know the truth – He doesn’t want to miss Juan T next week in Barcelona! Who can blame him!
Join us for this unedited glimpse of our conversation on the lecture trail – we talk about the side steal, the pass and what the two have in common. More importantly, you’ll get tips that will help you have more success in your own attempts to master these important techniques!
Drop a reply below to let us know what you think, and remember – we’re doing this on the fly. It’s the real deal – we hope you enjoy it!

I´m so happy about every tip on misdirection… because it´s so important and not the easiest thing to learn in magic! Thanks for sharing this!
Marv
Good advice.
It’s funny that as I (maybe We) learn a new slight or move we concentrate on our hands and yet, when practicing in front of a
mirror, flinch and won’t look. And with this lecture, we learn not to look at our hands and actually condition our audience to ignore our hands. Ironic huh?
There’s a lot in here. I’ve listened to it more than once.
This is a good conversation.
Can’t wait for your input about Juan T show.
Steph
ps Marv…4:23AM? You need to get some sleep, Dude ;-D
pps Must buy Revelations
pps for those who are not familiar with the side steal, I hope it’s ok that I post this website. If not: Sorry but John Carney does a fab
demonstration.

Can you get Juan T to autograph a little car for me????
Hey, Aaron hope Spain is treating you well hope to see some pics posted. Your podcast about the Side Steal truly great advice. I agree with what you said completly, the minute that you get to the point where your comfortable doing the “sneaky stuff you can do it whenever because their is no expectation that your doing anything at all.
Hey Steph! I live in Germany
it´s 16:31 pm now….
Hey Aaron,
REALLY interested in the discussion on the pass and the sidesteal! I’ve been working on a new pass with at least four different types of applications during the last four months or so, so I’m really into this type of material at the moment. There’s a lot of psychology involved, as is touched here, on conditioning spectators – I’ve noticed that just the little switches and nuances in presentation pay off with big misdirection. Who thought that taking ideas from Strong Magic and Designing Miracles, and applying it to sleights on an individual basis, would actually work (instead of a routine at large). It’s funny how everything is applicable at all the different levels of magic.
Anyhow, hope the lecture was a success and that you had fun with your magic jamming! Did you by chance get to meet my friend, Alejandro Portela, while you were in Spain?
Great stuff, and hope to see you at magic-con. 18 now, so my parents can’t keep me away any longer!
Thanks for letting me live thru you this trip. I do the world myself, in between that so important “wheels up” date. So I’m like a home type guy,not afraid to leave the porch as you say, just havn’et in 6 months. Your trip gets my tolietry bag up and excited. Thanks for letting me travel with you guys. The guy that complained, has never heard the line I love, means ready to see anywhere in the world. “Please return your seat to it’s upright postion,as we ready for takeoff” All that guy hears is, “where’s the remote?”
Keep going boys,USA doing ok without you for now, only now. John
Damn, Aaron, you are SO LOUD. And I have to turn my volume way up to hear other guys. Anyway, the advice is good.
Thank for sharing.
Peace,
Cuong
I like the honest discussion approach to this subject. You are 100 percent correct about learning to ignore your hands when needed. Of course there are times when the hands can engage in some activity that should not be ignored such as scratching oneself in certain places while in public but that’s a topic for another forum.
